Conflict Transformation in Community

Conflict Transformation in Community

Permatours' "Pathways of Peace" - a community conflict resolution initiative is hosting its 1st online workshop:

"Conflict Transformation in Community" - led by professional communication coach and facilitator, Hava Horowitz.

Please register here to join us:

https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUpcumprTMvE9GHwGudXcwFUASWPbGFrraz

~~~~~~
MORE ON THE WORKSHOP:
Conflict has a bad reputation. Some of us avoid difficult conversations like the plague, with our unspoken words weighing heavy on us. Others engage hastily with conflict, without thinking much of the repercussions. Yet, whether we like it or not, the ability to navigate through the tricky terrain of conflict greatly influences the strength of our communities.
In this workshop we’ll discover how conflict is actually an opportunity for collective transformation and deeper connection, using an interpersonal meditation practice called Authentic Relating and the basic principles of Non-Violent Communication. By workshopping the difficult conversations in our own lives, we’ll practice applying techniques for managing conflict, even when the stakes are high.
We’ll also learn a methodology to receive conflict from others, discovering how to fully stay open and listen, while still having the opportunity to say our piece.
While these conversations may be tricky, we’ll discover that they often spotlight what we deeply value and desire personally, and collectively.
~~~~~~

MORE ON OUR WORKSHOP GUIDE, HAVA HOROWITZ:

She works with entrepreneurs, aspiring leaders, individuals, and communities on expressing the most authentic version of themselves by leveraging communication best practices, acting techniques, shamanic practice, and energy work. With the blazer on, she can be found working for leaders and teams behind the scenes at Harvard Business School, Techstars, KPMG, Citi Bank, MIT, and more.

She is also the co-founder and former CEO of Terraseed, the planet’s most sustainable supplement brand.

BEHIND PATHWAYS OF PEACE:

In an effort to be transparent with our community and to hold ourselves accountable, we wanted to let you know that Permatours has been going through some serious growth - not just in the size of our community, but also in the way that our organization is structured and governed.

We've faced some challenges as a "decentralized" organization, including conflict between our core organizers - in part, due to unspoken expectations, a lack of agreements around how we organize events, and a lack of process around how our meetings are facilitated.

Our commitment to decentralized governance (or a rotating leadership model), our overarching mission, and working through these challenges has led to our developing "Pathways of Peace," an initiative designed to cultivate a culture of harmony and understanding - internally (within our organization) and externally (within our community at large).

This program encourages compassionate conflict resolution, and we're inviting our community of communities to address the inevitable interpersonal challenges that come up between us with empathy and constructive growth.

As we develop this initiative, which will include an online workshop series, a resource center, and a network of professionals, we would love the support and wisdom that you have to offer.

You can learn more and discover ways to get involved here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RidX1tePdVJTZOO2i4QTepAbOam24GP8/view?usp=sharing

You can share your interest in supporting Permatours and other aligned communities with navigating conflict and finding pathways of peace here: https://forms.gle/VgrdHzX1T3EbmtVo6

Thank you!

With love & gratitude,

HWY 18

Pine Ridge, SD 57770

Google Maps Coordinates: 43.130262,-102.656497

The Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center (RCREC) is located on U.S. HWY 18, between the villages of Pine Ridge and Oglala, SD.

From Pine Ridge Village

9.1 miles north of the Shell station (Big Bat's) at the intersection of U.S. 18 and Rt. 87 in Pine

Ridge village. Set your odometer! At 9.1 miles on U.S. 18 West, you’ll turn right on to the newly named Rabbit Road. You might see a tractor trailer sign near the tree line to the east. Follow the gravel road off to the right and continue down the small hill. You will see a Quonset hut immediately to your left and you can park along there. Henry’s home is across the dirt road beyond the solar array to the south - about 200’ from Rapid City. You are just over 100 miles from the Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center. Head south on Highway 79...which becomes Highway 18. At the very small town of Oelrichs, you’ll turn east but still on Highway 18. You’ll pass the casino...face down the border guards if there are any and pass through to the small town of Oglala.

From Oglala:

Set your odometer when you pass the Oglala Post Office on HWY 18 East, heading southeast. In 5.5 miles, start looking for Mile Marker 94. Turn left 1⁄2 mile past mile marker 94 at the low point of a very subtle hill. The turnoff has an official sign – Rabbit Road. Follow the gravel road off to your right, and down a small hill. You will see a Quonset hut off to your left, where you can park. Come on in and ask for Henry, who is the Executive Director

ABOUT PERMATOURS

Permatours is a movement of folks striving to live more harmoniously; to learn and teach each other how to sustainably grow and forage food, build structures and shelter, and live in community – intentionally. We’ve been unlearning and re-learning what we can do together not just to survive, but to thrive with each other and the planet.

We completed over 20 regenerative volunteer projects throughout the northeast region of the U.S. in 2021 and we’ve got plenty more coming up this year!! To drive further impact and expand our reach, we’ll be capturing education shared at our events to embed into online courses. There are many ways to get involved and support. Please reach out if you’d like to explore working together.

Why Seeds?

  • It can be sent instantly with no fees.

  • It can be used around the globe so long as you have a phone or wifi

  • It funds regenerative projects around the world.

  • It redistributes value to those who are working to heal the people, our planet and our communities.

  • SEEDS is run directly by the Citizens, not by a single organization for the benefit of that organization.

  • Anyone can join SEEDS and has an equal opportunity to contribute and gain value.

Join us in building a regenerative economy w/ Seeds, inspiring connection and exchange between the communities visited on Perma-tours. There are 125+ ppl in our local New England community who have seeds to spend or have products and services accepting seeds for payment. Globally, there are 10k+ people with Seeds to trade & exchange, and 100+ organizations like Permatours that have been funded through Seeds cryptocurrency grants.
