HEMPCRETE BUILDING LEARNING EXPERIENCE
The overall environmental impact of Hempcrete is among the best of any alternative combination of insulation, drywall, siding, and sheathing.
A field of tightly planted hemp, farmed regeneratively, can consistently produce a higher volume of harvestable building material than a healthy forest, due to the high rate at which hemp grows each year - it grows like a weed!
The part we use for building is called hemp hurd. It comes from the inner part of the stalks and is the leftover byproduct after CBD and fiber are removed. We then mix in clay and hydrated lime, and using homemade tamping tools, pack the mixture into temporary plywood forms which are fastened directly to the framing of the wall thatβs being hemped. The forms can be removed immediately after being packed full, as the binding properties of clay and lime help hold hempcrete together - even before it dries. Hemp as a building material has the potential to shift the building industry towards affordable, healthy housing, and improve access to housing for many whose houses are making them sick.
This is just a taste of the benefits, bonuses and wonders of hempcrete!

Why comfrey?
A perennial herb, comfrey serves as a dual-purpose wonder in both garden and body wellness. Its deep roots enrich the soil and can break through compacted clay ground, providing a nutrient-rich fertilizer through traditional composting or compost tea. The dense foliage of comfrey acts as natural mulch, suppressing weeds and attracting vital pollinators to its abundant bell-shaped flowers. Meanwhile, comfrey's high concentration of allantoin renders it a potent healer for skin ailments by promoting wound healing and soothing irritations, alongside its anti-inflammatory properties that aid in conditions like arthritis. (Note: Do not ingest comfrey - for topical use only.) Overall, comfrey embodies the harmonious relationship between human health and environmental vitality, offering a holistic approach to nurturing gardens and supporting bodily wellness.
Thank you for supporting our collective growth, for contributing to this community of communities, and for your dedication to creating a more regenerative, abundant, & beautiful world for all. ππ±
